Ephesians 2:4-10

Verse 10  For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

We have reached the end of our study of allowing God to make us new.  We have talked about the importance of varying areas of our being made new so we shine for His glory.  Knowing these things is important because whether we are paying attention to changes in our lives or not, those around us are and if we are not allowing ourselves to be renewed by His Holy Spirit, they won’t believe our testimony of faith.

We talked about the importance of a healthy prayer life.  We were reminded of how to keep the lines of communication open with God so we can hear His Spirit correcting us and know He is listening to the things which weigh on our hearts and minds.  Being able to talk with Him is a gift we should cherish.  He wants to talk with us and we should want to talk with Him too.

We talked about the need of true worship in our lives, not the kind which merely goes through the motions of honoring God but a worship which truly sees Him for who He is and can’t help but praise Him and reveal Him to those around us.  We worship Him in part by magnifying Him with the way we live.  Knowing our worship is more than the songs we sing on Sunday should help us remember those around us know God by how we worship Him in our day to day lives.

We have also talked quite a bit about the intentional way we need to renew our thought lives because that is where our actions are born.  Putting in the effort to clean our thinking to be more in line with God and His ways, shows how important He is to us and is an integral part of how we come to know Him in an ever deepening way.

Through all of these the thing we need to remember is that it isn’t us working in our own lives, it is Him working in us, molding us and shaping us into the men and women He wants us to be.  We are His workmanship, the masterpieces He is creating to make Himself known.  When we do the things He has created us to do, we are doing His works with the hands He created.  He is the artist, we are the clay.

Making It Personal

Have you learned things about yourself which you would like the Lord to work on?  Have you asked Him to do the needed work in your life?  Are you surrendered to His guidance in your life?

Making It Personal Kids

What have you learned about living like Jesus?  What are some new things you think Jesus wants to see in your life?  How excited are you about following Jesus in every way?

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for working in our lives, designing us to be all You want us to be.  Help us follow You in every way so we can be Your light to the whole world.  In Jesus’ name, amen.
